Summer Meet 1, organised by Athletics Malta, saw a strong turnout from Aloysians athletes, with both senior and young competitors taking part, many of whom are building up towards the Brno Games later this summer.

At senior level, Gianluca Lia topped his 100m heat, crossing the line in 12.29s.

In the 60m heats, Andrew Carabez impressed with a personal best of 7.78s, winning his heat and leading the U16s category. Also competing in the 60m were:

  • Jake Galea (U14) – 8.68s (PB)
  • Nicholas Carabez (U14) – 9.59s
  • Juze Cassar (U14) – 9.62s (PB)
  • Juljan Cassar (U14) – 9.71s (PB)
  • Kilen Bonello (U12) – 10.17s
  • Calvin Bonello (U12) – 10.22s

In field events, Juze Cassar placed second in the U14 Shot Put with a PB of 8.50m, while Juljan Cassar took part in the Discus Throw, registering a best mark of 14.13m. Katrina Grech also competed in the Discus, recording a throw of 12.50m.

Carabez continued his strong day with a closely contested 300m race, clocking 38.40s in a head-to-head finish against a La Salle contender.

In the U16 Long Jump, Carabez finished third with a 4.54m leap, followed by Zane Dimech, who landed 4.18m – a PB.

Dimech also participated in the U16 Javelin Throw, where he reached 7.97m. He and Katrina Grech also featured in the High Jump, clearing 1.35m and 1.10m respectively.

In the 150m, Jake Galea clocked 20.73s, a PB.

Meanwhile, Luke Attard ran a solid 2:01.67 in the U12s 600m race.

On the girls’ side, Kylie Bonello achieved a new PB in the U16s 60m with 9.31s, while Luisa Camilleri (U12) completed her race in 11.23s.

Hannah Galea capped off the Aloysians performances with a PB of 53.28s in the 300m.
