Aloysians Athletics Club athletes returned to competitive action last weekend, with the club’s U12 and U14 athletes taking part in the third Athletics Malta Multi Events meet held at Marsa.

The meet produced a series of encouraging performances across all age groups, highlighted by multiple personal bests and podium finishes, underlining the club’s positive start to the year.

In the U12 boys’ 60m sprint, Logan Abela registered a time of 10.66 seconds, followed by Andrea Mifsud who clocked a personal best of 10.86 seconds. Sebastian Abela matched his previous best with 12.63 seconds, while Jan Rutte completed the sprint in 13.04 seconds.

The quartet were also in action in the 400m Obstacle Race, with Logan finishing in 1:38.66, Andrea in 1:48.66, Jan in 1:58.00 and Sebastian close behind in 1:58.90.

The boys also impressed in the field events. In the long jump, Logan secured a new personal best of 3.01m, Andrea followed with 2.78m, while Jan and Sebastian recorded jumps of 1.99m and 1.70m respectively. Meanwhile, in the vortex throw, Andrea produced a standout personal best of 22.71m, Logan also set a PB with 19.94m, with Jan throwing 10.65m and Sebastian 9.84m.

In the U12 girls’ category, the 60m saw excellent speed performances as Leah Muscat ran a personal best of 10.24 seconds, closely followed by Georgia Xuereb in 10.27 seconds. Ella Mifsud also achieved a PB with 10.45 seconds, while Lara Dalli finished in 11.17 seconds.

Over the 400m Obstacle Race, Ella clocked 1:32.59 with Lara completing the event in 2:11.98.

The girls also delivered encouraging results in the vortex throw, with Georgia achieving a personal best of 16.57m and Leah also setting a PB with 16.07m. Lara registered a solid 14.53m, while Ella added another PB with a throw of 9.41m.

In the long jump, Leah led the group with 3.17m, just ahead of Georgia’s 3.13m, while Lara jumped 2.94m and Ella 2.89m.

In the U14 boys’ events, Luke Attard ran 15.87 seconds in the 100m, followed closely by Zack Stafrace in 16.03 seconds.

Both athletes also competed in the 400m Obstacle Race, where Luke clocked 1:21.77 and Zack finished in 1:24.54.

The duo concluded their programme in the discus throw, with Zack recording 11.56m and Luke achieving 9.40m.

The U14 girls also produced a series of positive results.

In the 100m, Vega Guijarro Bravo led the group with a strong 15.56 seconds, followed by Mia Buhagiar in 16.22 seconds and Luisa Camilleri in 16.74 seconds.

Over the 400m Obstacle Race, Vega clocked 1:24.28, Mia finished in 1:29.85, while Luisa delivered an encouraging personal best of 1:30.36.

In the discus throw, Vega recorded 6.71m, with Mia achieving 6.03m.
