The final Athletics Malta meet for the 2025 season took place on Saturday, at Marsa, with the Aloysians Athletics Club athletes delivering a string of standout performances across multiple events and age categories. Personal bests and season-best marks highlighted the club’s growing talent as they wrapped up the season on a high note.

In the 100m heats, Saleh Najem impressed with a third-place finish in his heat, clocking 11.83s, which also earned him second place in the U18 category.

The boys’ 60m sprint saw Andrew Carabez take top honours in the U16 category, setting a personal best of 7.64s. In the U14s, Benjamin Gusman ran 8.23s, while Juze’ Cassar and Juljan Cassar posted 9.55s and 9.74s, respectively. In the U12 category, Calvin Bonello and Kilen Bonello recorded 9.67s and 9.87s, respectively.

Carabez also shone in the 200m, winning the U16s category with a personal best of 24.08s, and followed that up with a second-place finish in the 300m, clocking 38.39s (PB). In the girls’ 300m race, Hannah Galea achieved a personal best of 52.69s.

In the women’s 60m U16 category, Martina Gouder ran 8.70s, while Ella Grech (U14s) posted a personal best of 9.32s.

In the 150m events, Benjamin Gusman ran 20.08s (PB), while Nicholas Carabez clocked 23.79s. In the girls’ race, Ella Grech posted another personal best with 21.94s.

The 600m U12 boys’ race saw Calvin Bonello finish second in 2:09.43, with Kilen Bonello following in 2:18.31.

Jake Galea crossed the finish line in his 800m race with a time of 2:28.39s, topping the U14s event.

Aloysians athletes excelled in the field events, starting with the long jump where Andrea Grech recorded a season-best 6.02m, topping the overall event. Zane Dimech followed with 4.17m, while Raquela Calleja topped the U18 girls’ category with a personal best of 5.04m. In the U16s, Martina Gouder jumped 4.97m, setting a new personal best and finishing second.

In the boys’ U14 long jump, Benjamin Gusman placed second with a season-best 4.60m, followed by Juljan Cassar with 3.94m, and Juze’ Cassar with 3.78m. For the U14 girls, Katrina Grech achieved 3.79m.

In the high jump, Zane Dimech cleared 1.40m at U16 level, while Katrina Grech recorded 1.05m in the U14 girls’ event.

Andrea Grech also topped the U18 Javelin Throw with a distance of 39.62m. In the Shot Put, Juze’ Cassar placed third in the U14 boys with 7.65m. For the girls, Ella Grech claimed first place with a personal best of 6.73m, while Katrina Grech threw 5.78m.

In Discus, Juljan Cassar finished with 14.30m.

With several personal bests and podium finishes, Aloysians Athletics Club concluded the 2025 season. The club now looks ahead to building on this momentum for the 2026 season.
