The EAP 2025 Malta International, held at the Marsa Track, brought together athletes from across the globe as part of the World Athletics Challenger Tour. Organised by World Athletics, this prestigious event offered local athletes a valuable opportunity to compete against international talent, gaining exposure and experience at a high level.
A number of Aloysians Athletics Club athletes rose to the occasion with impressive performances and several personal bests (PBs).
Andrea Grech came within a whisker of victory in his 100m final, clocking a superb 11.18s PB.
Andrew Carabez impressed in the U16 100m final, winning with a massive PB of 11.82s. He also won the 400m with a strong time of 55.99s.
Andre Camilleri broke the 12-second barrier for the first time with 11.91s in the 100m final — a new PB. Gianluca Lia also achieved a personal best, finishing in 11.96s in the 100m final.
Miguel Piscopo posted a new personal best in the 800m, crossing the line in 2:21.56.
Raquela Calleja continued her rise with a 27.14s PB in the 200m, while also achieving a new long jump PB of 4.88m, edging closer to the 5-metre mark.
Martina Gouder delivered a strong performance in the U16 girls’ category, running 13.28s in the 100m. She jumped 4.26m in the long jump.
Meanwhile, Aiden Xuereb clocked 12.15s in the 100m final, just shy of his personal best.
The event also included a fun 800m run for younger athletes born between 2016 and 2020, with spirited efforts from Logan Abela, Giulia Savona, Ylenia Galea, and Sebastian Abela, showcasing the club’s vibrant future.
