With just one week to go before the much-anticipated National Championships, Aloysians athletes delivered a string of promising performances at the final preparatory meet—providing a timely confidence boost ahead of the season’s biggest stage.

Saleh Najem led the charge in the 100m, producing a blistering run of 11.84s – a new personal best – as he stormed to victory in his heat, placing first the in the U18s category. In the same race, Anes Benallal clocked a PB of 13.26s, showcasing steady progress – third in the U16s.

In the other 100m heat, Andrew Carabez finished in 12.03s – a strong performance that placed him, along with Najem, in the overall top 10 for the event. Carabez topped the U16s category.

Carabez continued his solid form in the 200m, placing second in both his heat and the overall standings with a new PB of 24.25s. A result that put him top in the U16s category here as well.

Raquela Calleja had a standout day, leaping to a new personal best of 5.00m in the long jump – winner of the U18s and overall competition. She also competed in the 200m, crossing the finish line in 27.77s, finishing second in the U18s.

Zane Dimech displayed his versatility across three events, registering a 10.70m throw in the javelin, a 3.71m effort in the long jump, and a 1.30m clearance in the high jump. Meanwhile, Belallal also took part in the long jump, achieving a solid 4.83m mark – third in U16s.

With several athletes setting personal bests and placing among the top ranks, Aloysians head into the National Championships with growing confidence and momentum. All eyes will now turn to next weekend’s showdown, as the team looks to cap the season in style.
