The recent athletics meet saw outstanding performances from Aloysians athletes across various disciplines, showcasing remarkable talent and dedication.
In the 100m sprint, Saleh Najem dominated his heat with a personal best time of 12.03 seconds, setting a new benchmark in his category. Andrew Carabez also excelled, achieving a personal best of 12.06 seconds, securing a commendable second place in the U16s category.
Carabez continued his success in the 200m, where he finished second in the U16s category with another personal best of 24.53 seconds. Meanwhile, Andrea Grech impressed in the 200m with a strong performance, clocking 23.00 seconds to claim second place in the U18s category.
Grech’s versatility was further highlighted in shot put, where he clinched first place in the U18s category with a throw of 10.33 meters.
In long-distance running, Miguel Piscopo achieved a new personal best of 10:27.54 in the 3,000 meters event, showcasing his endurance and determination.
Turning to the female events, Martina Gouder delivered an impressive performance, finishing second in the U16s category in the 100m with a time of 13.27 seconds. Kylie Bonello crossed the line in 14.45 seconds, demonstrating strong effort in her event.
Gouder continued to excel in the 200m, securing third place in the U16s category with a time of 27.25 seconds. Her talent extended to the long jump, where she topped the U16s category with a remarkable jump of 4.55 meters.
Special recognition goes to Zane Dimech for his outstanding achievements in multiple disciplines. Dimech set a personal best of 14.17 meters in javelin throw, while also achieving distances of 3.69 meters in long jump and 1.35 meters in high jump.
In the 800m, Pietro Plagenza displayed strong performance, finishing second in the U16s category with a time of 2:45.63.
