Athletics Malta’s Multi-Event Meet 7 at Marsa Track saw impressive performances from young athletes representing Aloysians Athletics Club across various categories.
In the U14 category, Jake Galea showcased his versatility with strong showings in multiple events. Galea started in the 75m hurdles heat, finishing 4th with a time of 17.12 seconds. He continued his performance in the 400m obstacle race, securing 2nd place in 1:12.53. In the vortex throw, Galea recorded a personal best of 23.97m. His excellence extended to the pole vault, where he cleared 3.05m, demonstrating skill and determination.
Delsin Bartolo, also competing in the U14 category, achieved a personal best in the vortex throw with a mark of 29.12m. Bartolo’s best in the pole vault was 2.47m, contributing to the club’s overall success in field events. In the 75m hurdles heat, Bartolo crossed the finish line in 18.49s.
The U12 boys opened their campaign in the 50m hurdles with multiple PBs. Kilen Bonello led the Aloysians group with a personal best of 9.78s, placing fourth. Calvin Bonello followed just behind with a PB of 9.79s. Luke Attard matched his personal best of 10.14s. Samuel Vassallo secured third place in his heat with a PB of 9.86s, while Zack Stafrace followed with a PB of 10.21s. Guze Farrugia, in a separate heat, finished third, also setting a PB of 10.24s.
Aloysians athletes also displayed great endurance and determination in the 400m obstacle race. Kilen Bonello and Calvin Bonello claimed a brilliant one-two finish in their heat, with Kilen stopping the clock at 1:21.78 and Calvin at 1:22.70. Luke Attard placed 5th in his heat with a solid 1:15.49. In another heat, Guze Farrugia registered a PB of 1:26.09 to finish fourth, followed by Samuel Vassallo, also with a PB of 1:26.27. Zack Stafrace achieved another personal best, finishing fourth in his heat with 1:32.33.
In the vortex event, the Aloysians contingent again delivered a series of strong throws. Zack Stafrace placed 4th with a top mark of 29.78m. Kilen Bonello secured 7th place with a PB of 24.67m. Calvin Bonello achieved a PB of 21.90m, followed by Samuel Vassallo with 20.99m (PB), Guze Farrugia with 20.64m (PB), and Luke Attard throwing 15.77m.
In the pole vault, Aloysians dominated the standings with excellent depth. Kilen Bonello finished on the podium with 3rd place, clearing 3.23m. Guze Farrugia followed closely at 3.10m. Calvin Bonello achieved a clearance of 2.90m, while Luke Attard vaulted 2.82m. Zack Stafrace completed the club’s strong showing with a 2.70m clearance.
