Aloysians Athletics Club enjoyed a strong showing over the weekend as several of its athletes recorded personal bests (PB) across sprint and field events in the third Athletics Malta Challenge Meeting, at the Marsa track.

In the 100m event, Andrew Carabez clocked a PB of 12.54s (-1.2) to top his heat alongside Sven Spiteri Busuttil, who also achieved a PB with 12.64s (-1.2). Carabez’s performance earned him second place in the U16s category.

The pair also impressed in the 200m, with Carabez securing another PB of 25.44s (-1.6) to finish second in the U16s once again. Spiteri Busuttil topped his heat with a personal best of 25.60s (-0.7).

In the girls’ 200m, Raquela Calleja powered to a PB of 28.01s (-0.1), winning her heat and placing third in the U18s. Martina Gouder wasn’t far behind, registering a PB of 28.30s (-0.1).

Both Calleja and Gouder were also in action in the long jump. Calleja leaped to a mark of 4.59m to place third in the U18s, while Gouder recorded 4.46m to finish second in the U16s category.

Special mention goes to Kylie Bonello and Luisa Ebejer for their determined efforts in the 100m, Maria Debattista Segond in the 1500m, and Ben Galea in the U16s long jump, all of whom continue to show consistent improvement.
