Several members of the Aloysians Athletics Club showcased outstanding performances at the second Athletics Malta Challenge Meet held last Saturday despite challenging weather conditions at Marsa.

Sprinter Aiden Xuereb demonstrated his prowess by winning his 200m heat with a time of 25.24s, securing a commendable seventh place overall in a competitive field of 16 athletes.

In the 100m event, Xuereb, along with teammates Gianluca Lia (12.34s) and Andre Camilleri (12.37s), competed together in the same heat.

Andrew Carabez delivered a solid performance, achieving a personal best of 12.70s in the 100m race and making an encouraging debut in the 400m with a time of 1:01:25, securing second place in the U16 category.

Meanwhile, Miguel Piscopo set a new personal best in the U16s 1500m event, showcasing his dedication and improvement in distance running.

Raquela Calleja excelled in the long jump, securing second place with a jump of 4.48 meters, demonstrating her skill and consistency in field events.

Kylie Bonello, Luisa Ebejer, and Maria Debattista Segond also represented the club admirably in their respective races, contributing to Aloysians’ overall success at the meet.
